Warning: I will ramble.
My name is Mick. For the first 24 years of my life, I was a combination of super ambitious and chronically lazy. So many ideas and projects got abandoned after the smallest hiccup. I would wake up every day with the best intentions, to get good work done, eat well, work out, and go to bed early. This rarely happened. My screen time was through the roof, and I would always find myself getting distracted when I sat down at my computer to do something, especially if it was something mundane. Sending emails was specifically my kryptonite.
In July 2025, I found out I had ADHD, both the Inattentive AND Hyperactive type. Sick 😐
Finally, an explanation for the mental civil war I've had my entire life. Something to filter all of my thoughts through, strip away the ones attributed to ADHD, and see what remains on the other side. That's me.
I am not the lazy person I thought I was. And I can get shit done (almost, we'll get to that).
I work from home, so I can basically slack off all day without immediate consequences. Obviously, those consequences show up later, but the ADHD brain uses the "What's in front of me right now" method. Great in the short term, really not great in the long term.
My days were spent watching YouTube videos about the most random topics you can think of, or Instagram reels that turn your brain into wet paper. NOT GOOD!
After reading Atomic Habits (okay, I listened to it for about 15 minutes every night to fall asleep for about 2 months, but I'm still counting it), I learned the best way to prevent bad habits is to make them as difficult as possible to accidentally fall into. Enter PUCA.
The entire point of PUCA is to put blinders on your browser, only allowing you to see what you need. Hide the distracting elements, or block whole websites that steal your precious focus. This way, you can travel the World Wide Web without fear of attack from the Focus Bandits (Big Tech).
Now, personally, I can't trust myself with easily toggleable switches. That's why I made HARD MODE. When Hard Mode is on, it completely locks down your settings during a scheduled time, making them a real pain in the ass to re-enable. I did make it an option to "Take a Break" for 15 minutes, but only after you hold down the button for a full minute. You really, really need to want to see that reel your friend sent you if you're willing to do that.
My main websites for work are YouTube and Instagram for things like research and customer interaction. That's why they're the two with the most advanced blocking. I plan on adding X.com (Twitter) and also whatever the public wants most.
I want to expand this extension with more advanced blocking on more websites, add more useful features, and hopefully create an app down the line.
Ideally, a billion people subscribe to PUCA so I can quit my job and just work on this from now on. I'm pretty proud of this little Chrome extension. It has served me well, and I believe it can do the same for other people with ADHD who think they're just lazy.
Shoutout to Ritalin XL 60mg. Without you, none of this would be possible.
